GCU Perimeter Fencing Project Commences

Dear esteemed Old Boys of Government College Umuahia,

It is with great pleasure that I bring you the heartwarming news of two momentous events that took place today in our beloved Alma Mater.

The first breaking news, is that the much-desired, long-anticipated commencement of the perimeter fencing of the College, finally happened today, Thursday 9th of October, 2025.

The Groundbreaking Ceremony began at about 10am, with top officials of the Abia State Government, the GCUOBA and the FEDT BoT, in attendance.

The second breaking news is no less epochal, as we gladly announce that the GCUOBA Alumni/FEDT Office is finally ready for use, and was also unveiled today. The official Commissioning Ceremony was performed immediately after the Groundbreaking for the Fence.

We congratulate all Umuahians on this significant, double barrelled achievement. We say a huge thank you to all for your unflinching commitment to this novel Restoration project, despite all odds.

However, may this also be a reminder that we’re not there yet. The journey ahead is still long and arduous, and we exhort all Old Boys to keep the faith, maintain focus, and retain your eyes firmly on the ball. We shall yet overcome.
