GCUOBA CLASS ’82 Reunion 4.0 – A Celebration of Brotherhood and Legacy

The Class of 1982 of Government College Umuahia gathered in Owerri for its 2025 Reunion — a powerful and moving weekend of reconnection, reflection, and celebration of shared heritage.
The reunion opened with a solemn night of remembrance, where we honoured the memories of our departed classmates — a deeply emotional and unifying moment that set the tone for a purposeful gathering.
Over the following days, we enjoyed a welcome reception, bonding sessions, health talks, a charity visit, and a special pilgrimage to the graveside of our beloved former principal, Mr. J.E. Nwogu (WAR), where we paid tribute to the man who shaped our foundation.
A major highlight was the honouring of two iconic Umuahians: Dr. Ahaiwe, National President, whose 70th birthday we celebrated with joy and pride, and Dr. E.D. Chukukere, the revered composer of our school anthem. Their presence elevated the occasion and reminded us of the strength and dignity of the Umuahian spirit.
The reunion concluded on a high note with a thanksgiving service in church, sealing the weekend with gratitude and hope for the future.
