Damian Anaekperechi Nzenwa Surveyor (Chief) was born in Obizi, Ezinhitte Mbaise L.G.A. Imo State. He attended St. Dominics Primary School, Ezinhitte, and in September 1952, gained entry into Government College Umuahia. He passed the WASC examination, in Grade 1, in 1957 and was in the pioneer Higher School set at Umuahia. He finished up in 1959 with four A-Level Passes in the Cambridge Higher School Certificate Examination.

Between 1960 and 1963, Nzenwa was a Shell- BP Scholar at the Nigerian College of Arts, Science and Technology, Enugu, from where he proceeded to North East London polytechnic, Walthamstow, for the Finals of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) after which in 1966 he was reabsorbed into then Shell-BP. He became a Chartered and Licensed Surveyor in 1972, member, Nigerian Institution of Surveyors and Fellow of the RICS in 1982. He also underwent various specialist courses in Hydrographic Surveying (London 1972),

Remote Sensing (Toulouse, France 1989); Advanced Remote Sensing (France 1993). Nzenwa was one of the pioneer indigenous professional Surveyors in Shell-BP where he reached the status of Senior Surveyor. In 1973 he resigned to establish his private practice in the name of Danz Survey and Consultants. The firm participated in major survey and maping projects in the country for oil companies, State and federal Government and blue-chip companies. And in recent times has been a major Surveyor in the Energy sector. He has certainly enjoyed a satisfying and fulfilling professional practice.

He ventured into politics and in 1983, contested and won a seat as Honourable member of the Federal house of Representatives, which unfortunately lasted for only three months before the military take-over of December, 1983.

He has made immense contributions towards the improvement of his town Obizi, and indeed his local government area. In 1989, he provided for his village. 10km length of power distribution cables which enables the Community reap the benefit of PHCN Power Supply. He played a major role in the establishment of a vibrant Obizi Community Bank He as been rewardedwith traditional title of “NZE”, and the Chieftaincy title of Ugwumba I of mbaise. In 1994, the Imo State Government appointed him the Chairman of Oweri Cpital Authority.

His other activities include membership of Rotary Club of Ogba, Lagos, where he served as president in 1996. Damian is married to rose, and the couple is blessed with five children all of whom are University graduates. His dedication to the cause of Government College Umuahia Old Boys Association has been absolute.
