Dominic Okafor Igboesoka Ekesi was born on March 15, 1935 in Abatete in Idemili L.G.A. of Anambra State. He attended St. Dominics Catholic Primary School, Abatete from 1941 to 1945, and moved with an uncle to Minna and Enugu before returning to St. Dominic for his Standard six in 1950 from where he gained entrance to Government College. He left G.C.U. in 1955 with seven distinctions and one credit. From there he attended the Technical Institute Yaba from 1956 – 1957 and national college of arts Science and Technology Enugu Campus from 1957 – 1959.

Between 1962 and 1966 he studied Civil Engineering and bagged a Doctorate in Civil engineering at the University of PAVIA, Italy. He worked with the firm of SALINI in Rome and then with Electro-Consult-Consulting Engineering of Milan from 1967-1972. on his return to Nigeria he worked with Federal Ministry of works and thereafter proceeded to Agip Nigeria Ltd. from 1973 – 1974 and later to Contecno International Project Consultants that designed Lagos

Dominic Okafor Igboesoka Ekesi (Dr, Engr, Chief)

State Secretariat Complex (1974 – 1978). He is a life member of Ikoyi Club (1938). Thereafter he established Better Living Limited and New Design Furniture Ltd.

Ekesi married Caterina Bartolomei in 1967 who he met as Law student of Rome University in 1960’s. Katia Gardens is named after her. The marriage is blessed with three children, Christiana Akabunachi, a graduate of fine arts, Reberto Chidobe, a graduate of Mech. Engr. Cornell University and MBA New York University, and Maximillian Emeka a Finance graduate of Syracus university USA and a masters degree holder.

Ekesi is a committed Old Boy of government college Umuahia. His support to the association and College is legendary. A man who loves his village and humanity, as the President General of Abatete Development Organization in 1987 he re-invigorated their traditional institutions and saw to the realization of he Rural Electrification Project. He was then conferred with the Title of “OMELORA ABATETE” meaning “ The Man who does good for all” by his Royal Highness Igwe P.U. Nkpume, eze Edeogu 1 of Abatete on December 28, 1991. He is also the Chairman of Abatete Community Bank Ltd.
